In Fall of 2018, I was a vocalist and live visual artist in an audiovisual darkwave band called The Parlor Pinks (with Rae Clark aka Deltalys and Daryl Ham). I found it difficult to locate places to play in my hometown. We started TPP Events that October in order to book more mixed-genre shows for our band and some of the artists we admire (within a reasonable driving distance.) Pre-Covid, our home was primarily at The Eighth State Brewing Company and I was also hosting Radioke at The Radio Room on Tuesdays. After a long pause, we restarted bookings in mid-2021 and created DIY events at various spots throughout the city. From there, we initiated revamps of the music programs of Swanson's Warehouse, and the Static Attic podcast in Greenville, SC.
The Parlor Pinks disbanded in late 2022 and TPP Events went through personnel changes and a rebranding effort and reemerged as Sour Cherry Music Services in the Fall of that year, booking shows during a revamp of The Velo Fellow and elsewhere. I was thrilled to add Whitney White and Chris Guirl to the staff for their expertise in Sound and Photography, respectively, in addtion to their fervor for local art. Since October 2018, we have produced over 225 local shows, 200 karaoke shows, 200 trivia events and assisted dozens of other concerts, drag shows, benefits and dance events. We have staged events at Wandering Bard Meadery, The Velo Fellow, The Eighth State Brewing Company, The Radio Room, Artistry Galleries and Workshop, The Columbia Museum of Art, Art Bar (Columbia), Fleetwood's (Asheville), Swanson's Warehouse, Zen, and other local venues and DIY spaces.
Over the next year we intend to bring as many people as possible together with our art, develop and showcase our own music and stage show, provide visuals and lighting for other bands, and connect with artists in other nearby markets. We are currently managing the events and music and are bringing a Fall and Winter series to Wandering Bard Meadery in Hampton Station. We are also providing production help, live visuals, and booking assistance for Season 7 of At The Addition (Columbia, SC's Digital House show). I'm currently providing live visuals for Greenville psych band Phantom Ships, and will be performing select dates with Charlotte punk band, Deadsenate, Charleston dreampop band, Leopard and The Diamond Sky and other bands at venues throughout the Southeast. Thanks for supporting local alternative music!Ash LennoxCREATIVE DIRECTOR
